Questions

Frequently asked questions.

If your question is not here, our support team answers in English, Malay, Indonesian and Arabic.

General

What is Salam Jannah?

An Islamic-themed platform for Muslims to find marriage, companionship and travel companions. Beyond discovery it includes chat, calls, events, halal gifts, private consultations with scholars, and a wedding vendor marketplace.

Who is it for?

Muslims aged 18 and over, starting in Malaysia and Indonesia. We welcome every level of practice — the religious fields on your profile are entirely optional.

Is this halal?

We have designed it to be as appropriate as an online platform can be: sincere intentions, modesty options, respectful tone, no casual-dating mechanics, and no interest-bearing or speculative instruments. We are a platform, not a religious authority. If you have a question about your own situation, ask a scholar — including through Ask Ustaz.

Do you separate men and women?

No. We do not enforce gender-segregated matching or require a guardian. We give members modesty and privacy options and let them decide. This is deliberate, and noted as something the product could tighten later.

Safety & verification

How does verification work?

You take a live selfie in the app. It is matched against your main profile photo automatically, with a human reviewer as the fallback. If it matches, you get the Verified badge shown everywhere you appear. It is free on every tier.

What happens to my selfie?

It is deleted once the decision is made. We keep the outcome — verified or not — and not the image. This is aligned with Malaysia's PDPA and Indonesia's UU PDP.

Can I hide my photos?

Yes. You can blur your photos to everyone until you mutually match, keep a private album behind an unlock, and turn on modest browsing so other people's photos are blurred for you by default.

What if someone behaves badly?

Report or block them from their profile or your chat. Blocks are immediate and bidirectional, and the other member is not notified. Reports go to a human moderation team.

Money

Is it free?

Joining, matching, chatting and verification are free. Paid tiers raise your daily limits and unlock voice calls, video calls, incognito browsing and monthly SalamCoin.

What is SalamCoin?

An in-app balance used for super-likes, boosts, profile unlocks, halal gifts and scholar consultations. It is not a cryptocurrency, has no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, and is non-refundable.

Is there a token or a crypto wallet?

No. There is no token, no wallet connection and no on-chain anything. All payments run through conventional gateways in Malaysian ringgit and Indonesian rupiah.

How can I pay?

FPX online banking, Visa and Mastercard, Touch 'n Go eWallet, GrabPay, Boost, ShopeePay and DuitNow QR, through iPay88 and senangPay.

Can I cancel?

Yes, at any time from Settings. Your tier stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. SalamCoin you have already bought stays in your balance.

Scholars, taaruf & vendors

Who are the scholars?

Vetted individuals onboarded and approved by our team — never self-registered. Each lists their specialty and languages. They answer in their own capacity; Salam Jannah does not issue fatwa.

What if a scholar does not reply?

If there is no answer within 48 hours, your consultation is refunded automatically. You do not need to ask.

What is the taaruf form?

A structured form with your family and background details, for when a conversation becomes serious. It is private by default and shared only with a specific person, only when you choose. You can withdraw the share at any time.

How does the wedding marketplace work?

Approved vendors — planners, photographers, venues, caterers — list real availability. You request a quote, agree the details in chat, and pay a deposit through the same payment methods. Reviews come only from completed bookings.
