01What we collect
Account details you give us (name, email, password, country, date of birth). Profile content you choose to add (photos, bio, city, interests, and optional religious fields). Activity on the service (matches, messages, events, purchases). Technical data (device, browser, IP address, approximate location). If you verify, a selfie — held only until the decision is made.
02Why we collect it
To run the service: show you relevant people, deliver your messages, take payment, and keep the platform safe. Religious and lifestyle fields are used only to match and filter as you have asked. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your private messages or taaruf details to train models.
03Religious information
Practice level, prayer, sect, mazhab, dress and revert status are sensitive information. Every one of these fields is optional, you choose whether to fill it in, and you control who can see it. We collect it only with your explicit consent, and you can clear it at any time from Settings.
04Verification selfies
A verification selfie is used for one purpose: to confirm you are the person in your main photo. It is deleted once the decision is made, whether you pass or not. We retain the outcome and the date, not the image.
05Taaruf forms
A taaruf form holds details about people who never signed up for this service — a parent or a guardian. It is private by default, never public, never included in a standard profile, and never used as context for any automated feature. It is visible only to a specific member you have actively shared it with, and only while that share is active.
07How long we keep it
Your profile while your account is active. Error logs for 90 days. Activity records for 365 days. Financial records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Verification selfies until the decision is made. When you delete your account, your profile leaves discovery immediately and your personal data is erased or anonymised, apart from what we must keep by law.
08Your rights
Access what we hold, correct it, delete it, withdraw a consent, or object to a use. Hibernate your account to pause without losing it, or delete it outright — both from Settings. Under Malaysia's PDPA and Indonesia's UU PDP you may also complain to your national data protection authority.
10Children
Salam Jannah is for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we learn an account belongs to a minor we remove it and erase the data.
11Contacting us about privacy
Write to our privacy team through the contact page and mark it a privacy request. We answer data requests within the period the applicable law sets.
